1997 Honda Accord tuning
1997 Honda Accord vtec swapping running really good, have put some after market performance bolt ons, all the regulars, just wondering what I would need to do to tune my ecu. Chip it? Get one prechipped? Or can it be tuned a little with the stock one?
The stock ECU is capable of compensating enough for typical intake/header/exhaust but it is not tunable.
Otherwise you can convert to OBD1 via a conversion harness, get a chipped OBD1 ecu, then get a dyno tune. Roughly $800-1000 for very little, if any, gains on that engine though. Money would be much better spent on other things.

No I'm saying as far as performance per dollar that getting a stock naturally aspirated F22B1 tuned is a waste of resources. They are not performance engines. Save for a swap or turbo setup if you want more raw power. If you want the car to perform better without doing either of those things look into shorter gearing, some weight reduction, better tires/wheels/suspension. All of those things will make the car feel much more performance oriented than getting the stock engine dyno tuned.
