Default Speedometer not working, jumping coolant temperature gauge when revved

Hi everyone,

So a few months back an electrician was doing some electrical work on the AC of the accord (96) and managed to short out some wires. I wasn't in the country at the time but my dad didn't get the whole story. They managed to fix the AC eventually, but since then, the speedometer doesnt work (other 3 gauges work).

I recently changed the speed sensor, but the speedometer still doesn't work.

The strange part, is that when you rev the engine to anything above about 4500rpm, the temperature gauge (which sits where it is supposed to just below half) crashes down to cold and then goes back up to the halfway mark the moment you drop the revs. I have never seen this one before, and the tachnometer and fuel gauge appear correct and fully functional.

Any idea where i should direct my attention to figure this out?

Thanks

I'm having the same problem with my car except the speedometer will periodically work for a few seconds then stop again.
