I have a 97 del sol vtec, I am going to convert it to a manual steering rack. Does anyone know if this will cause a check engine light to come on? I wasnt sure if the power steering is monitored by the ecm and would detect a fault if I remove the power rack.

 

It will NOT cause the "Check Engine" light to come on.

 

It won't, but make sure you cap your lines if not removing them.

 

You won't get a CEL, as there are no diagnostics for power steering. The power steering system only provides an input to the ECU to increase IACV duty cycle when the high pressure side sees pressure (while turning).
