V6 transmission issues - losing 2 gears.
I've been having some transmission issues lately in my 02 accord j30a1 and I'm wondering if there's anything I can or should do about it.
Intermittently usually after a few minutes of driving, I will lose 1st and 4th gears and the TCS light will come on with D4 flashing. Shift malfunction OBDII. When I turn it off and back on, though, the problem goes away and it shifts fine, and the issue doesn't happen again on the drive. Transmission fluid looks and smells fine, a bit high if anything.
What would be causing this and what can I do?
When the transmission goes out I'd like to swap/get swapped the 6 speed or later J series with 6 speed, so it would be nice to know.

You can clean the shift solenoids and drain/fill the fluid. Other than that they're not designed to be serviceable. You would likely be wasting your time doing that though. That generation V6 transmission is the most notorious for failures in pretty much all of Honda history. More realistically you're looking at replacing it with another transmission that will eventually fail as well.
