How did you do the ignition timing? P06 expects 16 degree while the Y7 marks are 12 degree.

Not sure I don't have the timing cover on.. I timed it by the y7 sprocket because the hormonic balancer is the b7 so I think timing marks are different. I ordered the timing cover so I put a timing light to it see where I am..

The B7 crank pulley isn't dampened. Did you check to be sure the Y7 is a non dampened pulley? If the Y7 is a dampened pulley, you may run into engine damage issues down the road with using the B7 pulley. But yeah it should let you set ignition timing properly for the P06 ecu.

Using the zealautowerks calculator, it looks like you will want a B7 head gasket to get the compression ratio as close to a stock B7 as possible with the use of a Y7 block and head.

I used y7 when I put cylinder head on it. I'll have to find a y7 balancer also. Is the y7 timing belt ok or should I used something else?

Oh wait, you don't have the Y7 head. Not sure what head the SOHC zc head is closest to. That makes it hard to figure out what head gasket closest matches the B7 Compression Ratio since you are using a P06 ECU.

If you didn't have an alignment problem of the timing belt then the Y7 cam gear is the right fit as for timing belt tooth alignment. However it could be off a tooth or half a tooth for the TDC marking depending on how the ZC cam is indexed. Also I don't know what timing belt would be best. Being all obd2 head and block (96-00) II suspect you are correct using the y7 belt. If it seems the tensioner doesn't tighten it up properly you can count the teeth and go to 1 tooth less if you research it. The ignition timing can tell you if you are mechanically out of time by a tooth or half a tooth. If you are off by half a tooth the fix is the B7 cam gear. It's indexed a half a tooth off from the OBD2 Y7/Y8 gears.

As for the crank pulley, if you need a dampened pulley then use the Z6 so that your ignition timing marks are 16 degrees for the ECU. The Y7 and Y8 pulleys are 12 degree which won't be nice on the ECU.

I ordered the z6 balancer. I did mess with timing ended up 2 teeth over notices exhaust twice as loud as it was thought maybe was too far out of time and put it back where I had it before.
