I'm trying to remove the evap solenoid from the intake manifold.
The screw holding the bracket is stripped. I've already tried : penetrative oil, electrical tape, elastic band, vice grippers.
I didn't try to hammer a flat head to slit the screw yet as im afraid to damage the Intake manifold itself.
Is an intake manifold thick enough to handle hammering on a screw since the IM is aluminium ?
I also didn't try to use a screw extractor, as i dont know if the head of the screw is thick enough.
The screw part number : 93893-0501008
What would you suggest for this screw in such tricky location ? Also why would honda use a philips head instead of a regular hex head bolt, genuinely asking.
Needle nose vise grips. Or use a grinder and grind the head off. Or a small cut-off wheel on a dremel to cut a slot in the screw for a flat head. Or a manual impact driver with a P2 bit.
