VSA module, brake master cylinder issues??
Can't seem to find a tech forum specifically for CRZ cars, although I posted this on a CRZ forum. I figure the Civics have the VSA/ABS module too so I'll ask here...
...My son took his 13 CRZ (60k miles) to Honda after it failed the annual inspection because the brake master cylinder was gummed up. I told him Honda would most likely just replace the master cylinder, which they did.
Now there were NO problems what so ever with the brakes. Brakes worked fine, no lights on the dash, he drove the car there. Honda replaced the master cylinder and called him and told him there was no brake pressure, pedal to the floor. AND claimed that is was like that when they pulled the car into the bay. Now the car did sit there almost a week waiting on the part to arrive but there were no issues with brake pressure ever since he owned the car. AND now its going to need a VSA module for $3000!!!!
So they install a new master cylinder and theres no brake pressure??? Even if the VSA module craps out won't you have brakes? What if it craps out while you're driving??Shouldn't you have brake pressure even if the VSA isnt working?
Anyone have VSA issues with civics?

Oh Hi again!
We do have a Insight and CR-Z section here. https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-...-z-hybrid-154/
I thought we had concluded the dealership was doing something wrong? Either a bad master cylinder or a service technician that maybe isn't so great at brake bleeding.
Brakes should still work even with the VSA unit unplugged. The only way the VSA unit would be a problem is if it has an external leak.

I have a factory service manual. I can send you some pictures of the VSA unit that show the fluid paths to explain why the VSA unit wouldn't cause a mushy pedal even if it were failed internally.
Did the dealership ever provide the error code(s) if any?
Really sounding like the car needs to go to another shop. Not all dealerships have fantastic service staff and even more so right now with the labor shortages.

Sure, if you dont mind I'd love those pictures. THANKS!!!
Here you are. Everything inside the dashed line is the VSA unit. Even if all the valves were closed or open you would still get pedal pressure. There is no where for the fluid to go.
I forgot to take a shot of the DTCs for the VSA. Maybe tonight so if they do produce some code(s) you can reference what they mean.
