***Are the engines BLOCK MATING SURFACES THE SAME ON AN AUTOMATIC AND MANUAL TRANS D16Z6*** ???

I have a D16Z6 engine with AUTOMATIC transmission. '93 Del Sol Si
I want to install another D16Z6 but the engine came from a MANUAL transmission Del Sol Si.

Yes, the braces on the Z6 are different between manual and automatic. And the throttle body (TB) is different being the automatic has 2 cables going to the TB not just one like the manual.

Do you have 2 complete Z6 engines and transmissions in front of you? If you do, then you should be able to easily transfer the required parts. If you don't, then you may be one stiffener short from block to transmission.

The other bit that is different is the flywheel/flex plate bolts are different lengths between the two. Automatic has shorter bolts due to the thin flex plate while the manual has longer bolts due to the thick flywheel. They are not interchangeable. I wrecked a good set of manual bolts forcing them into the crank snout with a flex plate. Got lucky they didn't provide a loose fitting on the flex plate before I learned.
