Default Motor Machine shop help request

Hey all,

I've been looking for a Machine shop to hone and service my engine for a while now, yet have been struggling to find a trustworthy shop. Every place I've found searching on my own has either rejected me saying "We don't do Honda's" Or not had a way for me to contact them outside of a facebook page.

Does anyone know or heard of a trustworthy shop I could go to in the Michigan/Midwest area? I don't want ro hand my engine off to just anyone, and it's been difficult trying to find something myself.

Sorry if this is a repost, or in some other way a problematic post. I haven't really used forums like this before and hope I'm doing things right.

Thank you for the (future) help!

What services do you need done? If they're turning you away saying "we don't do Hondas" and all your asking for is basic machine work like a bore/hone/resurface, then holy hell those are some bad shops lol.

Declining to rebuild a full engine is one thing if they're not comfortable or familiar with them, but if you've had a shop tell you they don't even do basic machine work on an engine just because it's Honda, then that's a blessing in disguise because that is an *** shop lol.

A mod may move this to the engine assembly subforum, or to your regional sub. You may get some responses here though.

I primarily want the cylinders bored, honed, and cleaned afterwords, thats really it. I would only request sleeving the cylinders if its completely necessary, but the engine isn't in bad enough shape for that to be the case. I plan to do a lot of rebuilding myself, I just dont have the heavy equipment for the cylinders.

And yeah, most of the shops around me are ***. Most of them don't even have websites, just facebook pages that they normally don't respond to.

Thank you for the help nonetheless

I usually purchase motor machine equipment like motor winding equipment from local automotive supply stores or online retailers that specialize in engine rebuilding tools and equipment. Don't hesitate to ask questions and inquire about the shop's experience with Honda engines before committing to their services.
