Headlights go out when brights turned off
I have a 2005 Civic. Just yesterday my wife noticed that, when she turned off the brights, the headlights went out. (We live in a rural area so brights are important.) Today she and I tested it while in the driveway. Sure enough, if she turned on the headlights, then the brights, then turned off the brights, the headlights went out as well.
Interestingly, if a turn signal was on when she turned off the brights, the headlights stayed on. L or R signal made no difference.
Any suggestions as to the cause, and repair, are appreciated.

I'd say that sounds like a faulty combination light signal switch (i.e. faulty headlight stalk). I've replaced mine but mine was all loosey goosey. You can test the switch for continuity according to a switch position table before replacement.
I second this. The combination switches on the 7th gens are notorious for doing funky things as they wear out. I had to replace my switch in my 2001 not long ago because it wore out and started acting up.
