Holy cow my fuel pump looks bad.

Ive been woring on the relays and everythin, and couldnt get ti to run. So i pulled it out, and my lord it looks like a relic from the titanic...

I just dropped the gas tank and cleaned it out really well with soap and water. It's pretty rusty and gross inside. I need to find some lime away or rust away or something to put in there and let it sit.

Is this because it's rarely filled? I thought having fuel in there would stop rust. I recently replaced the gas tank on my 1988 and the metal was clean. The outside was a different story though...

Good question. it is a HPDE/track/Autocross car and has just sat in my garage for 10 years now while I was taking a break from those things.

The gas tank was completely full of 93 octane premium the whole time though, so I really dont know what to think...

I bought the car from a guy in Wisconsin that built it, and this is the first time I've ever looked in the tank. maybe the cold winters up there helped condensate get in the tank.

who knows....
