Can I simply swap a 96 Prelude f22 into a 2000 shell? When the 96 was wrecked I took everything: motor, trans, mounts, shift linkage, ecu, axles, etc. Is this a plug and play swap or are there obd/wiring harness/mount differences that I should be aware of?
Can you swap it? Yes.
Is it simple? No. The F22 never came in the 97-01 chassis so there will be a lot of fiddly stuff to deal with.
Is it worth it? Probably not. By the time you account for all the things you will have to change/buy to get the F22 working, it would be cheaper and easier to just buy an H22.

Thanks for the info. I was really hoping for a plug and play, but guess I'll find an older shell. Not worried about vtec or performance. Just in need of a winter beater and happen to have this full swap just sitting here with less than 90k on it.
Only another 96 Prelude would be a perfect fit for all of it. 96 was a weird year right at the end of the 4th gens. They went OBD2A which was kinda just OBD1+. In 97 onward everything was OBD2B which was significantly different.
That said, if it's manual the engine and trans will work in a 90-97 Accord or obviously another 4th gen Prelude that came with an F22. You would just use the engine harness, alternator, distributor and ecu out of the vehicle you're installing it into.
