What Engine should I swap to ?
Hello so I am new to imports and I am looking to improve my 1996 Accord LX ! I’m not sure if it will be better to change the engine or even which way to go any and all advice is wanted ! It’s bone stock except for the 17 inch rims I got for it for $100.
What are your goals - More power, better handling a little bit of both maybe?
What is your budget - How much are you looking to spend? Keep in mind..... Cheap and Fast = not Reliable. Reliable and Fast = not Cheap, Reliable and Cheap = not Fast!
What is the current condition of your car and health of the engine?

So it has 63k original miles and it’s a 5 speed I was thinking maybe I should just do some upgrades to make it a little peppier until I put more miles but soon I will be driving it close to 70 miles a day for work and I’m a 2nd owner car fax is clean paint is rough. But I was really looking for advice . Any mods for now or anything that you guys found to enjoy as I have always had trucks and such never anything like a Honda ! I can spend whatever but I want somethin fun to drive lol for 70 miles a day
I had a blast with my 5spd I4 96 Accord with the basic bolt-ons, Intake, header, exhaust, short shifter and lowering springs. It was a fun and reliable daily driver for years.
If you are looking to add more power, a lower psi turbo setup is an option on these engines 300ish all day when properly tuned.

A 1996 Accord 5 speed with only 63K miles, and
25 years old. Cool!
My 1996 has 274K miles.
If you aren't familiar,
you might want to first drive it for a while
to work out any issues, such as suspension,
rubber, leaks, etc.
Get the feel of it, and imagine
what you would like to do with it.
