Engine Swap Recommendations?
Hey all, I blew the engine on my ‘97 EK Coupe recently and I’m wondering what I should look for to replace it. I believe I have a D16Y8 right here, but it’s pretty done. I don’t care much for performance, fuel economy is all that I worry about. If it’s slow I won’t mind. Besides that, low cost is also important.
Locally I have found a B16A2 with a chipped ECU. Pretty quick, but not what I’m looking for.
I had my car running at 40-50 MPG, with my tanks averaging to 40 MPG or a bit above. I’d prefer to match or exceed this without breaking the bank.
What would you guys recommend?

The poster above has offered you probably the best route to go...however...it is becoming increasingly harder to find D series (especially Y8's) and any B series motors (with the exception of the B20). Almost ridiculous really. I've been looking for an LS/GS manual B series transmission...they are going for insane money. I used to get them for like 300-500 bucks back in day.
Even if you can find it, it likely won't be cheap and it likely won't be in the best of shapes.
