I have a 2005 Civic, and the coating on the metal door window sill trim is faded.
Originally it had what seemed to be a thin, rubber-type coating.
The car is kept outside, which contributed to the fading and spotting of the original pieces.
I`ve tried everything: polishes, waxes, even Meguiar`s Ultimate Black Plastic Restorer, to no avail.
Somewhere I`ve seen where a detailer sprayed these trim pieces with Plasti-dip, but there was no followup.
I plan to remove these trim pieces, sand and primer before spraying, but what is best to use for longevity? Plasti-dip lasts at most maybe 3 years.
