So the car use to run with no issues. I have a 99 Honda Accord Ex 135k miles with the V6 Vtec motor. Then vehicle has sat due to me having surgery and i went out to start and when it did. The cars idle surged from 800 to 1200 rpm. After a few minites of me letting it do this out of no where the car jumps to 6k rpm as if someone mashed the gas pedal.
So i turned it off let it sit and cranked again.. Where once again it jumped to 6k rpm. Third time i turned it off restarted let it sit and it did yet again.
I looked at everything all fluids good, All sensors plugged in. No Check Engine Light.
I pulled out my scanner checked for codes even though no check engine and there was nothing.
This was my weekend car and last time i took it out if purred like a kitchen and had no issues what so ever.
No im having this issue.
Please any help would be appreciated.

 

Check your throttle linkage

 

Check for a vacuum leak, disconnected, cracked or rodent chewed vacuum hoses will do this.

Also, while checking the throttle linkage, ensure that the throttle body is opening and closing all the way.
The rotary air control valve (idle air control) could also be causing an issue if it were to be stuck in the open position.
