1995 Del Sol S Manual Swapped Can't Go Into 5th or Reverse
I have an auto 1995 Del Sol S that I manual swapped, but now it can't shift into 5th or reverse. while I was doing the swap and got the trans mounted and shift linkeage installed, I could go through gears 1-Reverse. but when I put the axles/wheels back onto the car and lowered it to the floor, I couldn't get into 5th or Reverse anymore! any idea what might have gone wrong in the swap? or is the transmission garbage? is there a way I can check? I will be pulling the transmission out again and want to know if there's anything I should look out for. the transmission I bought was a P4A/b000 but I don't know what car that is supposed to belong to. any help would be appreciated, and thanks!
anyone??? I'm at a loss. I found out the transmission belongs to 96-00 EX civics but that doesn't really help all that much. I looked on the forms and saw that some people couldn't engage gears/move their cars when their axles weren't fully seated so I'm going to try taking a look but if anyone has any input I'd really appreciate it
shift linkage from a d-series del sol. I know their specific to the car so I made sure to get the right one and it all lined up in the cabin so i'm sure that's right
That is odd, because shift linkage would have been my first guess too. I had this exact issue with my D16 Sol that was swapped to a manual by the PO. I made a jury-rigged setup that worked until I got the correct linkage. Might be a good idea to get under the car and actually watch the movement of the shift linkage to make sure it isn't hitting the frame when going towards 5th or reverse. There is always the possibility you got screwed on the linkage. One other thing to check for could be whether you got the T-bracket to the rear mount from the correct car. Mine had a mismatched one which, ironically, allowed the EG civic linkage to clear the frame, but also held the engine at the wrong angle.
If so, you can check out my thread on how I made a bracket to lower the shifter slightly and allow it to clear the frame, or just PM me for deets. I'm at a loss if it's something else though, sorry.

so update, I managed to get the car into all the gears after letting it roll a bit, seems like it gets stuck in gears and out of gears sometimes, don't know what's up with that. but now I have a completely different issue - the car won't start! it was running before hand but now it just cranks and sometimes I can hear the fuel ignite and combustion happening in the engine but it never fully starts up. did anything like that happen with your swap?
