I am looking at a del sol. My parents said it is unsafe and was wondering if they are safe or not? Thanks!

 

They are certainly not as safe as modern junk. Still less of a death trap than earlier Civics.

Keep in mind Del Sols are going on 30 years old now and parts are nearly impossible to get. They were pretty limited production and had a lot of unique parts making used parts difficult to find.

 

Ask your parents which is better, to be able to survive a collision, or to be able to avoid one.

Then look at lifted Jeep CJ-7s.

 

What did your parents say was "unsafe" about it specifically ?

 

EG is nearly just bury you in the car. EF is certainly just bury the whole wadded up mess.

Or you know, avoid crashing.

 

I've seen some "miracle stories" about Del Sols "saving lives" but those are stories from the survivors. I love these cars - have two of them. Drive them daily and a good amount of miles. I'd say the best safety feature of a Del Sol is its nimbleness....
