Default 2006 crv se 132k rpm 5k at 80mph

I just bought a 2006 Honda CR VSE with a 132000 miles on it. I test drove it but I did not go on the freeway.

The 1st time I took it up to 80 miles per the miles per hour The RPm went up to 5000. I expected it to shift but it never did so I'm asking what is the normal range for RPm at 80mph?

My 02 runs around 3000@80mph in over drive. It will down shift on some hills it struggles with and it will run up to 4000 plus rpm.
I would concur that it is not shifting into overdrive. It may be turned off as that is a feature on my 02.
May be a shift solenoid.

On the end of the shifter is a little button. Push it and the light on the dash that displays "D3" should go out. Now, go like hell!

on an 05 and 06 its a 5 speed and if the D3 button is pushed it holds 3rd gear same as the 02 to 04 4 speed. there is no way to hold 4th gear on a 5 speed auto. . So you need to count the shifts and figure out if its stopping at 3rd gear or 4th gear.

You can't shift manually on the steering wheel? (sequential mode)
