2001 accord v6 misfiring
A older guy at work was going to donate his 2001 accord ex v6. Took 100 bucks for it. He had owned it since new, cars in great shape Canada car with 140k. Has misfires that always come back after a while when he had paid to bring it to the shop for around 600-800 a visit for the past few years or so. Wondering if you guys think it’s worth it. I scanned the car it’s got P0300 P0301 PO303 and P0306. Smells like toasted cats clogged Egr maybe. But are these j30s known to last or not?
The engines are usually pretty reliable, when looked after. The transmissions on the other hand not so much. They have had some well documented issues.
What did they do to resolve the previous misfire issues? Have the valve clearances been checked recently? Timing belt ever been replaced?
For starters you could do a compression and leakdown test on the engine to see if it is even worth diagnosing the misfire codes.
