Default Viscous coupler - Freelander = the only option?

um.

Why is the freelander viscous coupler so desirable, what is so special about it? Are there other VCs that are proven to work?

Used land rover parts are next to impossible to find 'round here and i'm just not hip enough to step foot in a land rover dealership.

There is nothing special about it and its not the only option

The reason it is the go-to option is because of the form factor (a stand-alone VC as opposed to one built into a transfer case or diff housing) and because the freelander was such an apocalyptic pile of ****, that basically every one ever built is in the junkyard already.
