2011 honda CRV shudder
Hello all,
Rescently bought my wife a new car, and I inherited the 2011 CRV. I believe it is the ex-l but not 100not is 4wd and has a sunroof.
I've noticed a few things, mainly it has a nasty shudder when going up hills at slow speed, when accelerating, and when driving between 80 - 100 kph.
I just had new tires mounted and balanced, no change. Drain and filled the transmission 3 times, and though it definately drives and shifts much smoother, im still having this shudder.
Next thing I did was drop the prop shaft and take it for a drive, still have my shudder.
I have done some reading and some people have mentioned it is the front CV axles, I do have a hum that I was thinking was a wheel bearing but had a hard time pin pointing with the car on jackstands.
I'd really love to get to the bottom of this without starting to randomly change parts out......
Thanks for your insight!
Jon

Check the upper and lower engine mounts, the dog bone shaped ones. Accessory belt side of the engine. Lower one is bolted to the oil pan. Those being worn out will make for some shuddering.
Could be the CV joints, that is usually when you load them up from 10-40mph and tend to smooth out in the higher gears when there is less torque being applied.
When you dropped the prop shaft did the shudder increase?

Thank you for the reply, I will check the mounts next.
The shudder is more noticeable at lower speeds forsure and it's fine at highway speeds above 100 kph.
Dropping the prop shaft I did notice it was fairly bad up the first hill I went up, but overall I don't think it was any different.

I have a 2011 CRV that shudders on acceleration from 80-100 kph.
I took the passenger side CV axel off and there was no play in the joint. I did replace the Bearing that holds the shaft.
I have 270k kms on my car. Did transmission fluid changes regularly every 40k kms.
rotors are new. Pads are new. Front struts are new. Tires balanced. Car aligned.
whwn you removed the axels, did you notice any play at all? I don’t want to spend $1200 to replace tha axels if they’re not the cause but at present I’m running out ideas on what it could be.
