2002 no crank - Trans range switch? Troubleshooting help needed
I am trying to help a friend's mom since he moved away. 2002 civic (I think EX, honestly not sure). It apparently had immobilizer issues. They mailed me a different key. The immobilizer appears to be non-issue now as the green key symbol does not stay on with the ignition in II.
Everything seems to have power except the starter, and perhaps the fuel pump (have not confirmed fuel pump). The power distribution diagram appears to indicate that the trans range switch would prevent the starter relay from throwing, acting as a neutral safety switch. Is there a way to troubleshoot this?
I have checked the relays behind the glove compartment (there are three Blue, Brown, Black from left to right - which is not what I see in any other images online). They appear visually and mechanically to function. When pulling the brown, no accessory power. Blue will click once on turning key to II, then about 1 sec later click again when the immobilizer light goes off. I presume this is normal. The third black relay I believe is something non- essential (please correct me if I am wrong) but I have swapped it with a known good relay just in case.
All fuses test good (continuity). brand new battery.
If you have other ideas please throw them at me. I am hitting a dead end on troubleshooting given that the trans range switch is buried in the engine bay.
