Idle issues when stopping
I have a 2000 Honda Civic Ex. My issue is the car accelerates normally, cold starts just fine and actually runs better, it’s just when the car gets up to temperature and I’m coming to a stop the engine idle falls to like <500rpms then it eventually works it’s way back up to 700rpms or it’ll just die completely but will start back up and idle again at 700rpms. I’ve tried stopping by pulling the car out of gear and coming to a coasting stop and I’ll pump the brakes a bit to keep rpms up a little this works more times then not. I also have got it to stay running by not pressing the clutch in til around 1000 rpms while braking as little as possible. I’m considering maybe a timing issue bc I pulled the engine over the winter to give it some TLC with a new head gasket, water pump, oil pump, timing belt, skunk 2 alpha header, and a HKS HF cat back, but I don’t know I have a timing light but I still have to learn how to use it lol. I’m also maybe thinking the distributor bc it’s some cheesy aftermarket one I bought a yearish ago to get me out of a pinch and I have to have it pretty much all the way advanced to keep the engine happy. I also think it’s a mixture of those two things lol. I replaced the Crank Position Sensor hoping it would fix it bc the wires got into the Alt belt a little but to avail. I also tried relearning the ECU for the Fuel mapping but again didn’t work. Any help would be appreciated!!
