Ebay Honda/Acura ECUs!?
I have a 00 civic ex and I absolutely love it, y8 block with z6 head, AEM CAI, Forged internals, Skunk 2 exhaust, DC headers and a shimmed oil pump. Has anyone tried Ebay chipped ECUs? P28 specifically,I am going turbo in the future with Hondata but for now i want a lil something to spice up the performance just a tiny bit without braking the bank. So if you have tried them what are your opinions on them. Please and thank you!
******* no lol
What you need is tuning. Throwing a chipped ECU in with some basemap is not tuning. Those ECUs come with a basemap to get the car running, the ECU itself is not a power mod. You have to tune it.
Im more concerned that youre running "forged internals" on a stock ECU in the first place. Unless its just got some rods and low compression pistons in there as supporting mods for boost.
Ill give you some excellent advice that you will probably not take
If you want to turbo in the future, get the ECU and tuning figured out before hand. Get some big injectors and get Hondata or a Demon or whatever youre going to use, and get it tuned NA on those big injectors.
Then, when you decide to turbo it, you already know the car runs with the ECU and injector setup, all you have to do is get the boost area of the maps tuned in.
Nobody ever wants to listen when I advise this because nobody ever wants to spend money on tuning without getting a performance benefit, but this is the smart way to do it.

Tuning is almost ALWAYS the last item considered by an Internet Import Builder... most are so concerned with the shopping list of parts for the engine and power adder. The engine management and fuel system, as well as the tuner, should all be considered FIRST.
