Default K series turbo guys: A question regarding VTC & Power.

How much power is on the table with VTC? Currently on a turbo frank, tuning on Haltech Elite 750. Its a good little ecu, but it lacks a few options. For 1, for launch control and anti lag, I had to use a generic output based on mph for auxilliary rpm limiter and a nitrous map for tunable ign and fuel maps for antilag. This ecu offers VCT control, however its only by duty cyle. It doesnt read the cam position as a K series does. Therefore doesnt work. So Im assuming the power gains at 30 degrees is probably worth it to sell the 750, and buy a 1500? What say you?

So what cam position is it in?

There is definitely power there, but even more so there are huge improvements to spool and the area under the curve.

It would be at 0, as if there was a fixed gear

If its at 0 youre missing out on a lot of power. Even at peak RPM the cam wants some advance to make best torque, and theres a big area below that where you want every bit of advance you can get out of the gear.

No exaggeration. You will see huge gains from getting the VCT working, or at the very least figuring out how to lock it to ~30 degrees advanced.
