I'm replacing innner and outer tie rod ends on my 2009 CRV EX-L.
The factory parts schematic shows a rubber stopper so I included that in my factory parts order. Now that I have one inner and outer tie rod ends removed I don't see the rubber stopper. And the videos I've watched don't reference it. And I don't have a factory service manual to double-check.
However, there are some remnants inside the dust boot cover/bellows of what could have been a rubber washer.
Can anyone confirm the rubber stopper is indeed required? Can anyone include a screen shot from the factory service manual referencing the placement of the rubber stopper?
After doing the passenger side inner tie rod end the answer was revealed. The rubber stopper was and stays on the steering rack end.
The stopper on the driver side had disintegrated and its remnants were actually inside the driver side dust boot. And on closer look at the installation video I could see the rubber stopper in the video. The installer in the video didn't replace the rubber stopper, hence no reference to it.
So I was glad I had purchased the rubber stoppers. I replaced them on both sides. They simply slide on the steering rack shaft. After I installed the inner ends I slid and snugged the stoppers against the inner tie rod end lock washer.
