I have a service manual for a 1991 Honda Civic DX. In the end of the book, there's 43 pages or so worth of wiring diagrams, but it would be nice if I had more additional information regarding troubleshooting electrical issues. Because of this, I'm thinking of buying an Electrical Troubleshooting manual 61SH303EL. It's would actually cost more than what I spent on the service manual, but knowledge is power. Before I buy it though, I have to ask this question:

How much information will I get from the Electrical Troubleshooting manual 61SH303EL that's not already in the Service manual?

What else do I need to know?

All help would be much appreciated.

 

An ETM has generally better circuit diagrams where you can more easily trace to connectors, components, etc. It includes some photos of location of connectors and components. You have to understand how to read circuit diagrams; but, it isn't that difficult. The older ETMs like for a 1991 Civic will not have pin-out diagrams like later models; but, you can manually search for individual connector terminals for a connector throughout various circuit diagrams.

It doesn't really have any specific troubleshooting procedures like the service manual; however, if you understand the circuit diagrams, the ETM is an invaluable manual to narrow down electrical issues.
