Stuck nut and bolt on alternator bracket on 1999 EJ8 Coupe
My alternator is dying and I need to change it. The lower nut and bolt on it is stuck on the mount bracket. I don't want to replace the mount too. I've got the nut and bolt on order for the weekend. Any tips or tricks to get the nut and bolt off if they're stuck? Any fluids to spray on them overnight so the loosen and separate without trouble, like penetrating oil?
The lower, spray it with PB Blaster a few times, and if you got a propane torch, you can heat it up and hit it with pb blaster again before letting it soak overnight.
The bolt is a funky square head bolt that locks against the bracket so all you have to focus on is the nut on the front. You don't have to try and hold the bolt, it shouldn't spin by design unless it's been swapped with a standard bolt, in which case, it will be extra challenging.
