My boyfriend drove my car to the auto parts store and when he went to leave the key wouldn't turn past the first click, long story short I ended up getting the ignition switch out used a screwdriver started my car and drove it home. When we went to go get a new ignition switch and all the car won't turn over nothing. The dash lights won't come on but the overhead ones and the radio still come on from what I have read it's a fuse or the starter relay but my boyfriend says those things are just fine. So any other suggestions on what I did to make my car stop working and how to fix it would be awesome thank you for your help and time

 

When you refer to the dash lights not turning on, is this when you turn on the headlights or turn the ignition switch?

If it is when you try to turn the ignition on, then the cause is probably with the ignition switch circuit.
