Default Replacing Skunk2 suspension. What else will I need if I bought one of these kits?

New owner here. I know nothing about suspension but have been researching best i can. My 1995 Del Sol Si came with Skunk2 coilovers, and the oem suspension in a box, still functional.

As is it's way too low, too stiff ,and no dampening, I want to install a set up prioritizing daily driving in my pot hole riddled city, with maybe a pinch of understeer reducing if possible ( this is only a weekend car for me). Probably will drop it just 1inch from stock.

In my research in this forum I have found the following kits recommended for under $800:
Progress Technology Series 2
Tein Street Basis/Advance Z

Am I understanding correctly that these kits will need to use components from the current suspension on the car (such as top hat)? And if so could I mix and match the skunk2 parts with these or does it need to be oem? Trying to avoid a situation where I buy a kit only to be missing more parts for install.

It depends on the Skunk2 coilovers that you have... if they have Skunk2 top caps, they will not work with other aftermarket brand systems. If they use the OE top caps, you can transfer them.
