On may 28th, 2021 i purchased a used honda civic type R with 8,800 miles on it.
i decided to try to be safe and purchased the honda care extended warranty up to 80k miles.
Yesterday as i was driving i shifted into 2nd gear and heard a loud grinding sound, upon which the engine began knocking loudly. I pulled over at the safest nearest place i could and had AAA come in the morning for it.
I assumed it was a clutch or rod issue however the dealer has informed me i will need an entirely new transmission.
They also informed me that due to the triggering if a code (P0219 Engine overspeed condition) that my factory, and honda care warranty are voided.
This code was posted by a dealership in November of 2020, 6 months before i had purchased the car. No where on the car fax report was any damage/code reported.
i also took this vehicle to a honda dealership one week after purchasing the car for an oil change/tune up and they did not tell me of this code existing.
I am going to file a claim on monday, my question is what should my expectations be, has anyone dealt with an issue like this before? Am i likely to be able to get this covered?
Thank you all so much None of these issues were ever made apparent to me by either the dealership i purchased from, or Russ Darrow honda of milwaukee who serviced the vehicle.
