I was replacing the rear struts, upper, and lower control arms on my 1998 Civic LX and noticed some nasty rust/rot where the trailing arm bolts to the subframe. Is this something that can be fixed? Can you get a subframe welded? Any advice is welcome.
You can but that is a pretty major part that is structural. Would take peeling back many layers to stick new sheet metal back in correctly. The labor will be stupid expensive.
If that section is that bad the remainder of the car is probably not far behind.
Sadly there's no other major rust. Guess I'll keep an eye out for donor cars to either transplant what's good from this one or start learning how to weld. Dang why couldn't it have been the subframe.
