1998 CRV AWD Reverse Gear Nearly Kills Engine (5-spd Manual)
Hello everyone.
I've got a 1998 CRV AWD 5-speed manual. Reverse gear is ok on level ground, but on a slight incline (maybe ~15-20 degrees or greater), I have to put alot of rpm into it and it just bogs the engine, nearly killing it. Forward gears have no such problem. Does anyone have an idea of what might be wrong? Torque binding in the gearbox? Bad ratio? I just can't think that Honda would make a reverse gear that struggles that much.
Thanks.
