Default 93 Civic EG can't pull codes.

Alright so I have a 93 civic which has been engine swapped with a b18b1 from a 94 integra. A passenger kicked the ecu at one point and one of the wires shorted out. I believe this is a ignition/distributor wire because the car was running on 3 cylinders basically. It was left like that for maybe a year and a half because it wasn't a big issue. Problem started coming in so I decided to grab a wiring harness from another 93 civic and solder everything up using the new distributor plugs. I got a check engine light when all said is done but the car now idle smoothly even tho it idles at 1.1k. I have a CEL so I went to go check the codes with paperclip but nothing happens. The CEL comes on and after 2 seconds it goes away. However when the car first starts up the CEL does not immediately come on but when it does the idle goes back up to 1.1k. Could anyone help me out and direct me to which wires I may have messed up on? I check the diagnostic wires and the connection looks fine, I need to get in there with a multimeter to know for sure. Would using a scanner with the 3 pin plug work rather than using the paper clip on the 2 pin plug? Thanks.

Try another ECU. This is common with capacitor failures inside older computers. It may not be a wiring issue at all.

my problem on 93 del sol is I get CEL immediately after switching ignition and it remains on, not allowing me to even start the engine. When I try getting codes using paper clip, the CEL just stays on, no flashing long or short.

I pulled the ECU and opened its both panels, every thing looks pristine, so I am now looking for another unit.
