Default F23a1 Port & Polish bore over 70mm

I picked up a junkyard Intske manifold I'm going to port and polish and deep clean. Also got a buddy who has a Bridgeport and is going to bore it to 70mm. I plan to purchase a new 70mm TB and HOPE I can fabricate a base plate "TB spacer" etc to make it fit if it dont just bolt up. All 70mm don't specify the F23a....

Now my question is once all this is done will I need to get it tuned to run properly since obvious it's breathing alot more so will need to be supplied with more fuel.. or will it be fine? I'm cool if it runs a little rich till I can get an appointment at HP solutions for a tune.. but we don't want no lean numbers lol.

You will most likely find that when you try to open it up to 70mm, you will break through into the IACV passage. You you may have to weld in some filler material first. I would try mocking up the opening on the flange first before you got cutting it.

As for the tuning, porting and cleaning up the intake manifold is probably only to gain you a couple hp on a stock engine (maybe none at all honestly). It wont be enough to throw the fuel off enough to matter.

That being said, it is a good supporting mod if you get a big cam and good header.

Alright I'll definitely look it all over before we bore it make sure it's worth it, but I'd certainly like to take it up a few MM either way just would have to get a TB to match. This is truly all a little experimental which I'm sure it's been done 🤷‍♂️

Looking to just gain a few HP maybe better throttle response as'well. I've already got DCsports header and OBX crank pulley which that actually helped a smidge over all. Maybe once I've bullet proofed it I'll slap a turbo on it lol

You will gain nothing. If anything you will lose throttle response. There's a such thing as too big a throttle body and 70mm is much too large for a stock F23. You are going to totally butcher your air inlet velocity which is very important in a naturally aspirated application. Turbo won't matter as much but still won't really see any gains since the F23 is very much limited by the crap head design and extremely lethargic camshaft.

This is not experimental and has been done before by at least me and some others that I know of. The MAX you can go on the F23 intake manifold is around 64mm before you break through the material around the throttle body flange. The best you can do is buy a 1" spacer and taper bore it to reduce from 70mm to ~64mm.

Thanks for the input now I know.. well I may still least port and polish and clean this other intake see what happens. Now as far as turbo... I have heard the F23 was built for economy and a everyday joe car BUT the F23 is very torquey and can handle 7psi (on stock) which there's a cg6 here that goes to the shop I do HP Solutions and it's 203WHP 201ft/lbs torque. Cars close to stock except header, EBay exhaust and upgraded injectors/Fuel pump.

Don't get me wrong that's not alot of power lol but I'd like to see numbers around that without turbo which will probably never happen without a swap....

I do appreciate all the input!
