People who shame the Acura Integra Type R
I personally love imports, especially acuras. The majority of acura owners I know are awesome people!!! However the following story show's the darker side.
Unfortunately today somthing terrible happened, I had a Black 2001 Integra Type R w/13,700 miles, lined up for purchase. The owner said that there was nothing wrong w/the car. The only thing he disclosed was that the front end was replaced with JDM b/c of the original ten day owner hitting a curb and messing up the original. This part didn't bother me. So to be safe I had it checked out by an Acura dealership. This was all done at great effort and expense on my part, because I am in Missouri and the car was in California. My grandfather thankfully lives in L.A. where the car is and he arranged for the mechanic to look at it. Long story short when the car was checked out, it turned out to not have a passenger airbag, because the orginal owner hit the curb and deployed it, the rear view mirror was missing, and the a.c. needs $2,500 worth of work. To top it all of the valve cover had been salvaged from a junkyard. The mechanic also said that their were random nuts and bolts missing. Another random fact was that the door handels were off a 4 door model. The purchase price of this car would have been reasonable if these things had not been wrong with it. The fact that the person didn't disclose these things also makes me rather angry. I can't believe someone would do somthing like this.
Because of this, I am on the lookout for a 2001 white or black Type R w/under 20,000 miles. Any info would be appreciated.

My bad I meant 1,500. None the less the whole unit needed replaced, because it was disconnected and some of the fans hoses etc. were messed up.

a.c. needs $2,500 worth of work
How can this even be possible???
Irregaurdless of the gross inflantion of the price on the a.c. which was more like 1,500. The fact that this guy told me none of this stuff is what makes me angry.

So about the airbag, i know you could probably find one on here or just buy one of the block off trays... about the various nuts and bolts
, and why the 4 door door handles? weird. You could buy a whole a/c system for less than 1500, used.

Ya, and I understand your reasoning, but there is somthing about the car, that just puts a bad taste in my mouth when i think about it now. I mean honestly for what he wants for the car, and havin to turn around and dump more into it is just crazy. Especially when it's not like i'm dumping aftermarket parts in either, it's replacing this schmucks misdeads. Plus he wasn't up front about it which makes me the most annoyed.
yeah i know EXACTLY how you feel. I got my GS-R, it is my first car, hmm i dont know how to put this, with the knowledge i have know, it seems like i knew nothing about it then (only a few months ago). Stupid crap like interior panels all messed up, missing carpet in the back (it had a custom thing done but i put it back to stock) and even more stuff that pisses me off. Ive spent over $600 on OEM parts trying to put it back to normal. Thats money i could be saving for a ITR (which is what i really want).

I could have bought this one a year ago.
$21000
2000 Acura Type R yellow, 36 K miles, with all pieces intact. This is a real Type R. New tires, Python proximity security system, driving lights, upgraded air intake. No body modifications. Excellent condition. Car has been stored since May, 2002, but started weekly. Motivated seller, but please be serious and have the money to buy the car before inquiring. I appreciate how young people like Type R s, but I am only interested in serious buyers. Thanks.
