2006 Honda Civic Engine Noise
Hello Everyone,
Bought a 2006 Civic (my first car) a couple weeks back and noticed that the coolant was low after a commuting back and forth from school (after 2 days). Turns out the headgasket was leaking so the mechanic replaced it and just got the car back today. However, I was driving it around and noticed the engine sounded a little weird. Maybe I am being paranoid but I was wondering if this knocking sound is usual for an 8th generation civic. I have a video attached of the noise when its idling in the driveway.

Sounds about right. Might need a valve adjustment.
Also I think that is the engine that is know for having cracked/porous blocks and leak coolant. Maybe wasn't a head gasket issue at all. Keep an eye on coolant levels and watch for drips where you park.

Hello @Ryanthegreat1 , thanks for the feedback. I will look into the valve adjustments. Before taking it to the mechanic I made sure its not the infamous cracked block by looking for the signature leaks in front of the engine. Also, the oil looked clear (i.e not milky) so an internal crack doesn't seem to be at fault.
Hello Everyone, thanks for the recommendation about checking the valves. I took it to the mechanic who did the head gasket replacement and it seems that the machine shop did not adjust the valves properly after their inspection. So the mechanic was able to do a valve adjustment and its a lot better (I don't hear the ticking in the cabin). Here is a video after valve adjustment for anyone interested. The sound comparison may not be the best since the microphone will enhance certain frequencies but in person there is a difference.
