Hello all I am in some help with my beloved Hatch. I have a 92 Si Hatch with a completely rebuilt D16Z6. I have nothing crazy done to it other then an Intake pipe and full exhaust including a Header. Stock ECU no chip. My problem is this. The car was running and driving fine. I was getting some eronious tach readings every once in awhile where the tach would show the proper RPM and then suddenly not show the proper RPM. When the RPM would go crazy and peg out at 8K at mid throttle the car would sputter of idle. The car has about 5K on the new engine rebuild. The other Day I was driving the car and it suddenly shut off at a red light. Tach had already been steady acting up at this point. The car restarted 3 times during my drive which was all of a half hour. When I got the car home finally and went to restart it later that night it will start but die right away. I am getting no fuel pump, dash lights, warning lights or power sunroof and mirrors. headlights and radio work. Any ideas?

 

Start by testing the ignition switch.

 

Check your ground wires.

 

Ok so I have replaced all the grounds and cleaned all the grounding locations in the engine bay, there is absolutely no difference. I am going to be taking the column apart this weekend and start to troubleshoot the ignition switch. I did get a temporary illumination of the instrument cluster by wiggling the key
