Default Accord/Prelude FD ring gear in a 97-01 CRV trans?

I’ve seen the thread about using the whole differential in a CRV transmission but I’m wanting to just use the ring and pinion gear from the accord to take it from 4.566 to 4.066 mainly for highway use. It has a VTEC head on it and it has 0 problems hitting 8200 in 4 gears. I thought about just using a 5th gear from an accord...the .685 ratio but it would be a huge drop off. It’s not like every day I’m doing 130 but that’s where it tops out in 4th right now. It still picks up in 5th too but if I changed the final drive the ratio it would still be up there in RPMs from 4th to 5th. I also thought about going to a 4.266 and changing 5th to an LS gear... but again there’s the drop off. I mainly just want to know if u can just change out the ring gear without the diff change. yes I know they bolt up but i need to kno if there is any shimming or machining if I did it this way? Any help would be appreciated.
