TPS signal noise?
Hey all, I've been chasing my tail on a TPS-related issue for a while now.
Basically: my TPS signal is super noisy. It fluctuates 3 to 5% all the time. This obviously makes tuning tip-in a total pain.
I want to know if your b-series TPS is also noisy. Is this a normal amount of noise? Have any log screenshots you can share?
TPS is the yellow line. The ECU is interpreting a 3-5% delta no matter the TPS smoothing settings.

Here's one with a particularly noisy TPS that was triggering accel enrichment all the time. The white spikes here and subsequent AFR dips are the effect.

Car: NSX, C30, AEM series 1, stock wiring. That said, the C30 just uses a b-series TPS sensor rotating the opposite direction. So any and all b-series folk's experience applies here.
* I've tried 3 different TPS sensors: 2 used OEM, one new aftermarket B-series (Dorman), all have same effect. Some seem a slightly noisier than others, but only by ~1% -- none are not noisy.
* No other sensors are noisy
My thoughts right now are either
* This is normal and I need to work around it
* I have a wiring issue
But I dont know how noisy a normal sensor is.
One weird thing from a pass on tip-in tuning a little while ago: in the middle of a 15 minute log session, there was a whole-*** minute where the (old) TPS signal had effectively 0 noise. Before and after this, with no break in logging or any other specific event, it went back to being a noisy diva. Could this be the TPS wiper making proper contact? Or maybe a ground in the harness being shaken in exactly the right way? In any case, this is what I am looking for, but it may be false hope. It sure would make tuning a lot easier.
The pink line on the bottom is the delta TPS, it's basically 0 until there is an actual change in throttle, as it should be.
