Thoughts on this 1979 Civic
Hi all, I just joined as I am looking at buying this 1979 Honda Civic.

Manual, from an area with low rust incidence,
Spoke to the dealer yesterday and planning to look at it next weekend. The dealer said he wants $8000 (Australian).
I'd appreciate thoughts or opinions from anyone with any experience. I'd never owned a classic car. I own a 1982 Honda motorcycle, which currently isn't running as of Friday :-( That's as much experience as I have with older vehicles. I can do very basic things like spark plug changes or oil changes, but I'm willing to learn.
Thanks.

A similar one here in the USA recently sold for $8,000 (US) in similar condition -- so the price isn't out of bounds. The big thing for me would be "How many miles?", and is there a service and repair record? Most important with high mileage, "How often was the oil changed??????
If you are not skilled at checking the vehicle yourself, a good Honda mechanic would check it out for $100 or less!
