Edges of timing belt frayed - incorrect install?
1997 Honda Civic del solEngine B1a62, Manual transmission, 107k
1.6L DOHC 16 Valve VTEC
I had my valve cover off and inspected the timing belt. I'm concerned about some fraying on the edges. Here is a video: https://photos.app.goo.gl/1KmzD77cmKqbiXzaA
Is this normal wear for a belt with less than 10k miles? Does this fraying mean the belt or tensioner is not properly set?
Thanks!

The belt looks fine. You inspect the teeth. The manufacturer has a threaded layer and some of the threads may stick out from where the "cloth" was cut. That is normal. If you saw rips into the rubber, there would be concern. But you don't. You see a nice clean rubber edge and nice clean full teeth on the belt and the belt is perfectly positioned on the cam gears so the alignment washers are working perfectly.
The belt is fine. 10k miles is millions of revolutions and the belt would be destroyed if something was installed wrong.
You do have a pigeon problem though...I'd take care of that asap.
