Hi all- I just joined this forum to hopefully be able to fix issues on my two Hondas myself, instead of going to a dealer. I always like to try to figure things out first, and if I get to a point where I'm scratching my head, I look to the vast wealth of knowledge of places like this. Living in Wisconsin, I get to have the fun of trying to remove rusted nuts/bolts (or anything else that rusts), which makes working on cars all that more enjoyable. Nothing like getting some rust crammed into the gash in your knuckles when that rusted bolt finally gives up the battle, and you basically punch the frame rial with your fist! Hopefully I can add some advice as I gain more knowledge here. Thanks in advance for any help I get here!

Hi!

My account is new here as well but I've been lurking for a few years. Best forum I've come across for hondas. Your in the right place!

I've been saving an old 92 hatch from the junkyard and absolutely know your pain with rust and scraped knuckles. These older civics are famous for em.
Pnumatic impact wrench is a real boon when dealing with this sorta stuff.
But if you don't have one and are on a budget (or you can't reach the bolt you need with yours); I've had allot of luck with a light plastic mallet, using it to tap the wrench rapidly and repeatedly to "simulate" what an impact wrench does. Just remember, it's the impact that breaks the bolts free, not the force. So no superman sledge hammer swings.
Not broken any wrenches yet. And it works well, especially if paired with a good lubricant. I use allot of pb blaster, though you need to be careful as it can damage certain materials.

What Hondas do you have? Would be able easier if we actually knew what your working on, hehe.
If they happen to be older civics, I can imagine you are gonna come across some bolts that simply cannot be freed. There will be times when you gotta cut em and replace them.
Rear lower control arms come to mind especially. Everyone has issues with snapping heads off those bolts. And those suckers are expensive to get the proper OEM replacement.

Wish you luck in the on going battle against the rust car cancer.
