I just snagged a pretty clean 04 Accord with a shot motor that needs rebuilt. The driveway mechanic dude I normally go to will charge me $900 to rebuild it (plus parts) which doesn't seem too bad at all. He asked me to find out one thing, though: Can the oil pan come out with the motor in the car?

I'm not remotely mechanical so I would have no idea. I think he wants to rebuild the motor without actually pulling it from the car, though (I had floated the idea of swapping a V6 in and he told me he doesn't pull motors so I think that's it).

Any help you can give me is greatly appreciated.
