Hello friends!I need your help and experience. I 've recently found a supposed Honda Integra 98' DC2 Type R for sale for a suspiciously low price and i ve already seen and driven the car in person. Everything checks out: Vin number gives a Euro Spec Type REngine however is B18C (and not B18C6 as it should have been)Interior looks COMPLETELY Type R ("carbon" parts, no sound deadening carpets, recaro seats, nsx like dashboard, type plaque etc etc)Gearbox is Type RBoth reinforcement bars are correctly installed inside the trunk and under the chassis. HOWEVERThe rear wishbones are obviously not Type R spec as you ll see in the attached pictures. So my question is could they have been swapped on an otherwise legit Type R frame(and why would they)?? Or is this obviously a very convincing replica? (Note that the ABS has been removed so the small tubes on the wishbones are missing)
Might be real, look to see if the rear subframe was welded on? Some people have gone through the effort to swap an ITR subframe, but most don't. it could have just had a JDM B18c swapped in. Picture of the complete engine bay?
it is easy to swap over the rear control arms and some people have swapped to the fork style control arms due to shock choice, etc. For instance, I run ITR rear control arms on my car so I could run Bilstein B8s. But if I came upon a good deal that involved buying a JRZ or MCS shock in Fork Style, I would switch my control arms back to the fork vs the current eyelet ones.
Thanks for the clarification about the Rear Control Arms! I thought that fork style = not Type r necessarily. Here s the only i pic i have of the engine bay. I know the Type R reinforcement bar has been replaced with a Skunk one. The engine also has some mods (new ecu, cams, aftermarket radiator, and some other stuff i cant list right now, 188bhp at the wheels on the dyno supposedly). Also how would i check if the subframe was welded on?
I have two further questions guys!
The car does indeed seem legit. However during my research for this particular ITR two new issues have come up: 1) The car's first registration date is on December of 1998 while the VIN says it was produced on January 1999. What gives? Is this possible without any sort of tampering etc?
2) Ive learned that this particular ITR has on the past switched between many engines and setups and was used for drag racing using a turbocharged K series engine. THEN it was reverted to almost original condition and sold to the current owner who says that he hasnt faced any issues during his 4 year ownership of the car. My mechanic's inspection also found no glaring issues with it although the repainting of the car's engine bay (from purple to black) spoke of the cars past.
Should I steer clear or just accept those issues as part of finding a relatively cheap ITR?
Looks like a legit ITR chassis with the correct rear subframe. I've owned both an Integra GSR and Type R before and remember noting the differences between the two underneath. Did notice along what someone mentioned above: the rear lower control arms look like they're off a non-Type R or EG Civic and not the reinforced Type R ones.
