I was driving along the motorway, had done about 40 miles, nearly home then my car felt like it came out of gear, I could hear the car revving but it wasn’t accelerating. I tried taking it out of gear and putting it back in but no luck. I glided to the hard shoulder and turned the engine off. Tried starting it again but it wasn’t turning over. Any ideas?

 

Need a little more info you said felt like it cane out of gear? Automatic or manual transmission? Also said wouldn't turn over meaning nothing at all or engine would turn but not start?
