Default Separated wiring Civic EK.

Hi guys, I need help with my idea.
I want to wire a few things on my Civic EJ9, like oil temp gauge, few floor lights, etc. But, I would like to have my own wires, from battery, so I don't need to cut originals. But, I want to have power on those mine wires, only when key is turned on ( ll ), not all the time.
Now, what would I need, how hard that would be to do? Have someone done this?

Run a fused 8 or 10 AWG wire into the car from the battery and use a SPDT relay.
You can find wiring diagrams all over the google machine

When you say fused, I presume you think wire with a fuse, so, where, and which fuse should I use?
