What's going on everyone, I have a 2003 civic 1.7 vtec I was using to commute. Great car, but changed state residency and didn't want to deal with inspections. So, I decided I'm going to sell the civic, and I bought a 97 Accord, 5 speed, F22b2, with ~212k on the ticker. For the age and mileage it's in decent shape, but had an exhaust manifold leak(previous owner snapped a stud on cyl1) , valve cover leak(previous owner pinched gasket on installation), brake lines leaking, sensor 2 O2 sensor is throwing a code, and most recently the crank position sensor gave up. For $650 I couldn't pass it up. I commute100 miles/day, so getting something I could pay cash for and fix up was easier than a bank note.
I've been wrenching since I was a kid, the only thing I haven't had experience with.. yet.. is pistons, setting valve lash, the top side stuff. My work has mainly been on trucks, besides the typical oil and brakes while I was wheel and tire minion.
Onto the good stuff...
Currently, the accord is in the garage torn apart waiting to get the head pulled. I've got a crank pulley tool on the way. I figured I'd get the socket and holder as a back up. Specialty tools are a necessary evil, and I figure it won't be the last time I need one of the two. We've got some goo decent selections for pull-a-parts here, so I'm diving head first into figuring out whether or not I want to go vtec or not. I've seen a lot of threads started with questions about how to do it by people that drop in and want to get spoon feed, but only a couple that document the process start to finish. Either way, here to learn the Honda side of things.
