B16a identification
Dont ask me to look harder, all the threads ive read go against one another or are usless
I bought a B16A but dont know its obd, or if the head is even original to the block
Block reads B16A, serial 1212368, pistons read pr3-3
Head says its a 99, pr3-3
from what i could gather it seems like its a older block with a newer b16 head, so can i use this iin a (presumably) obd I d16z6 equiped eh9 civic? my ecu is a p28 that i planned to have chipped to work with a b16a, now i dont know what to do

These forums are filled with much information, and infinite misinformation. Did you have a specific question?
Mechanically, you will need a B-series transmission ($), axles, mounts, shift linkage, if you don't already have them.
It sounds like you are most worried about wiring and instrumentation. Most of your harness will unplug from your D16 and plug into your B16. If your distributor is obd2 like your head, you might also have to sort out distributor connections. This is pretty well documented... somewhere around here...
Sounds like you have a B16A1, but the age of the block and head do not matter in that a B16 is a vtec block and pr-3 heads are vtec heads and they are compatible with one another without modification. No problem there. If your motor has a crank sensor (on the oil pump) and a knock sensor (on the back of the block), it's obd2, but those will be ignored by your P28 regardless. If it's older, then it will not have those. No worries either way.
